Coaching  - Coaching Pathway  - Overview
Ulster Hockey is committed to developing coaching throughout Ulster.

Coaches are vital to the development of the sport and without quality coaching we will not be able to develop effective player pathways from Grassroots to Interprovincial and National Squads. Ulster Hockey organise a range of courses leading to qualifications at different levels and hold workshops and seminars throughout the year focusing specific coaching topics. These will help you develop your skills and knowledge as a coach on hockey specific and generic topics.

Many teachers also have a role in the development of players and there are a number of Coaching for Teachers workshops held during the year. These workshops are designed with the needs of Teachers in mind so look out for the courses on the Course Calendar.

A diagram of the Coaching Pathway is below. Pathway courses are certified by Coaching Ireland and run from Fundamental to Level 3. The pathway diagram below gives details of the progression between courses and the order in which they run. Please note that Hockey Ireland strongly advocates that any coach or volunteer dealing with U18 players must have their Safeguarding of Children in Sport Certificate.

Outside of pathway courses, Ulster Hockey also runs a number of continuous professional development courses. These courses are non-certified sessions that all coaches can attend regardless of level of qualification. Courses are run throughout the year and cover a wide range of topics.
