Cork C of I v Cookstown - Preview

Cookstown make the long trip to Munster on Saturday for their postponed opening match in the EY Hockey League against Cork Church of Ireland HC.

They travel to Garryduff in Cork on the back of two defeats and two excellent second half performances. But the Tyrone side, back in the top-flight competition after a year's absence, will also take heart from the fact Annadale snatched a 4-4 draw at the same venue last Sunday.

"Glenanne was another great second half from our lads and to have come away from that game without points is hard to take," said Cookstown midfielder Greg Allen.

"Listen, we just have to learn from this and when we come up against Cork this week coming we've got to magic up that same effort and intensity from the start. We are not too far away and if we can tune in from the first whistle we will definitely be in with a shout."

"Cork is a tough place to go, but they've had a bit of a wobble in their first two matches this season, losing to Glenanne and then drawing with Annadale on Sunday. If we can get up to our full capability earlier than we have in our first two matches, and put them under a bit of pressure early on, I think we can get those all important first points on the board."

Cookstown HC take on Cork Church of Ireland HC at Garryduff Sports Centre in Cork on Saturday at 1pm.
