Indoor Hockey Success

Over 140 players took part in inaugural Ulster Hockey Under 15 indoor tournament at the Antrim Forum on Sunday.

The event was very well received from all the players, coaches, officials and spectators.

Ulster Hockey would like to thank Antrim and Newtownabbey Council and their staff for their support in running the event, providing a world class facility and helping to make the tournament an overall success.

On the pitch Mossley reached both the boys and girls finals, only to lose out in both to Banbridge and Coleraine respectively.

Bann defeated the Newtownabbey side 3-2 in the boys final, player-of-the-tournament Edward Rowe scoring twice with Chris Curry also on target and Conor Morrison and Kent Irwin replying. Eva Gaston won the girls player-of-the-tournament accolade after scoring both goals for Coleraine in a 2-0 win over Mossley in the girls decider.

Overall, the tournament, organised by Ulster Hockey's Jonathan McMeekin, was voted a huge success and it is hoped it will become an annual event.
