The Ulster Hockey Union is the recognised Governing Body for the sport of hockey in Ulster, providing for the development, management and promotion of our sport across all ages and abilities.

Strong links exist between the Governing Body and the Clubs, Players and Officials within Ulster, while the Union also has an important affiliation to the Irish Hockey Association.

The Ulster Hockey Strategic Plan (2009 – 2013), available to download here, explains the role of Ulster Hockey and clarifies its structure and operational objectives up to 2013.  The plan commits to continuing to grow a full range of development opportunities which are open to all and will ensure that the most talented are encouraged and enabled to excel at International level.  Likewise opportunities to participate as a coach, umpire, official or administrator are seen to be imperative in order to achieve sustained development. 

Ulster Hockey exists to support and develop our sport and this document aims to explain the structure and encourage more people to become involved in participating in hockey at any level.  The Union's Annual Plan details the ongoing development of hockey over during the 2009-2010 year.

Ulster Hockey recognises that the amalgamation of the Men's and Women's branches presents an excellent opportunity to accelerate the development of the sport of hockey.  Idenfitied as central to the implementation of the Strategic Plan is the appointment of prefessional staff within a revised staffing structure which conprise the following -

Responsibility for High Performance and Player Pathway systems

Development Officer - Talent Identification and Development - Scott McNeill
Responsibility for Talent Identification and Coach Education Programmes

Development Officer - Grassroots and Club Development - Dawn Millar
Responsibility for Grassroots Hockey and Club Development Programmes

Administrative Support - Lorraine McKeown and Sandra Gaffikin
Provide administrative support for all aspects of hockey
